—B-COMM™ for PeopleSoft Time and Labor Benefits City Government with State-of-the-Art Time and Attendance Tracking—
MIRAMAR, Florida, July 27, 2007 - Kaba Workforce Solutions, the North American operating subsidiary of Kaba Holding AG, Switzerland (SWISS: KABN), the worldwide leader in enterprise workforce management systems, today announced that the City of Overland Park, Kansas has implemented the company’s B-COMM™ for PeopleSoft Time and Labor communication software and Kaba time clock devices throughout city facilities.
Selected in 2006 as one of the top ten livable cities in the United States, Overland Park is home to over 167,000 residents over a 63 square mile area, and is the second most populous city in the state of Kansas. Kaba technology has been installed throughout several of the municipality’s public parks, pools and maintenance buildings including the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, a 12-acre public park that recreates a traditional farm with animals, gardens and a one-room country schoolhouse, and the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, an environmental education, recreation, and cultural resource center for regional Kansas City.
“Our technologies have offered enhanced solutions for employee time and attendance tracking, communicating, reporting and analysis to corporate customers in a wide range of industry sectors,” stated John Edwards, Chief Executive Officer, Kaba Workforce Solutions. “We are very pleased that municipal governments such as Overland Park are implementing similar management practices and have also chosen our solutions in order to optimize their enterprise systems.”
B-COMM™ for PeopleSoft Time and Labor is a certified communications software that links PeopleSoft Time and Labor to Kaba time collection and shop floor terminals in order to automate and validate the collection of employee data. The city of Overland Park installed Kaba time and attendance devices in eighteen locations for 350 employees, from maintenance staff for the parks to lifeguards at public swimming pools, and implemented B-COMM™ software to communicate the collected data to the PeopleSoft enterprise system. Managers of the various facilities have significantly benefited from the immediate feed of staff attendance data into the PeopleSoft system in order to make rapid decisions, and the Human Resources department for the city is now capable of expediting payroll more efficiently.
“We selected Kaba technology because it is a great improvement to our earlier system where there was a 24 hour turn-around time for the data to go through the enterprise system, and it had a very small learning curve,” commented Tim Shipley, Manager of Applications and Development for the city of Overland Park. “ The clocks and software were immediately adapted for our existing identification badges, and importantly, if the network were to ever go down for any reason, Kaba technology still stores the punch.”
Additional B-COMM™ features such as recording and communicating specific tasks and lapse times are also currently in use by some departments within the city’s park system. The city plans to broaden the use of these and other features to more facilities in the near future.
